In this brand new watercolor-gouache workshop, we'll discover the wonders of gouache and how this medium can be used alone or in conjunction with watercolor. Alicia will supply the gouache, just bring your watercolor supplies and possibly even a painting or two that could benefit from some opaque elements! Alicia will demonstrate its uses and the day will be filled with fun experimentation using this unique medium! Students may sign up for one or both days, as different demonstrations will take place each day. Alicia will also supply available subject matter.

Learn the basics of micro-macrame knotting. The focus of the class will be on the cavandoli or tapestry knot and changing colors. You will be working with cotton cording. No prior experience is necessary. You will have your choice of colors and beads. All materials will be provided. Go home with a lovely knotted beaded bracelet!

This class is just like the Christmas ornament class but designed for spring bling to hang in your windows. If you’re still wanting to make Christmas ornaments, please let me know so I can bring the Christmas baubles.
You’ll make three ornaments, learn to cut glass and use a glass grinder. All materials are provided. These are put together with epoxy resin and take 24 hours to dry. Please bring a box to carefully transport them home if it is inconvenient to leave them overnight to dry.
I’ve scheduled two classes and can add more if there are a lot of people interested.

Beyond The Color Chart - Exploring With Watercolor: Mixing, Matching and Mingling with Joyce Rothermich
March 4
In this workshop students, through various exercises and explanations, will be able to take their paintings to a new level. Students will learn the terminology of color, compare and contrast colors , match colors to a photograph, learn which paints on their palette are warm and cool, transparent or opaque, how to create colors starting with a gray base, produce paintings that display various temperatures, how to paint dark backgrounds, and much more. You will leave with a new understanding of color.
This workshop is for anyone wanting to expand their knowledge of color through the watercolor medium.

When: Saturday, March 4th from 9:00-3:30 with a break for lunch
What’s Provided: Color swatches, binder pages, palette with 10 colors, 18 page booklet (These items are yours to keep)
What to Bring: Pencil and eraser, Board to paint on, masking tape, water container, one larger round brush, one flat brush at least a 1⁄2 inch, a palette with a large mixing area or a white plate, any and all watercolor paint that you currently own, scrap or inexpensive watercolor paper for color experimentation, 2-3 pieces of Arches watercolor paper at least 8 x 10 size.

BJ will guide you to draw realistically, add dimension and depth to your drawings and make your images pop! BJ has been drawing for over 20 years.
You will learn how to draw from a reference photo, determine composition, focus and background, choose a color palate, and layer color. Bring the following supplies:

In this class you will learn how to think creatively about the natural objects you collect. Adam cannot teach you all there is to know about how to make his Forest Figures sculptures, but he can give you the skills to start finding your own creative voice.

Continue growing your drawing skills or learn the basics. All ability levels are welcome! Adam will advance your skills whatever your level. This 4 week course meets two hours each week. In each session you will receive instruction, skills, tricks-of-the-trade and encouragement as you make several drawings.
All ages welcome! For students 18 or younger, it is requested that a parent or guardian stay nearby during lessons.
Your instsructor, Adam Long, is an internationally known artist who has been successfully teaching these skills for over 20 years. He holds a Masters of Art in Studio Art emphasis in drawing and a Master of Fine Art in sculpture.

Learn the art of acrylic painting with award winning artist Jef Arnold. Jeff will teach you the terms and techniques of painting with acrylics in this 8 week class. All levels are welcome.

Learn how to paint a beautiful watercolor painting of Main St. in St. Charles with award winning artist, Lee Copen. Historic St. Charles is filled with wonderful old buildings, making it the perfect place to paint architecture. Lee worked as an architectural illustrator for many years and she loves to paint architecture with watercolor. In this workshop she will share everything she knows about watercolor painting and perspective drawing. Students can expect to work in the studio and with weather permitting along Main St.
When: Friday, March 3, 2023
Time: 8am - 4pm (One hour break for lunch)
Cost: $75 plus supplies
Supply list: Students should bring the material they have, but Lee will be using the following: 10x14 block of quality watrcolor paper(Blick premier cold press is a good affordable option). Brushes: flat (1/2 or 1 inch), rounds 2 and 6. Paint: She uses Winsor Newton tube paints in a portable pallette, but any professional quality paint will work.
Instruction is given through teacher demonstration. Emphasis on wet on wet, wet on dry, negative painting, mingling colors.
