In this workshop we will introduce the figure into the landscape using dramatic color and contrast and will utilize great design concepts in order to create more exciting work! The workshop will include demonstrations along with class and individual discussion. Students will have the option to work along with provided subject matter or choose a subject of their own with which to apply the techniques. This three-hour class will challenge your creative skills! You will be making
one 8 x10 inch framed art piece of your own design or three window ornaments using mixed media. I will provide frames, stained glass, wire, mosaic chips and a random assortment of things I’ve collected. If you have any small items at home that inspire you such as buttons, old jewelry, hardware(!?), please bring them! We will use epoxy resin to finish your piece. Please bring a box if you are unable to leave it at the gallery overnight to dry.
Glass cutting and grinding will be reviewed with additional time given to beginners.
Children 12 and over are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

Exploring watercolor: mixing, matching & mingling with Joyce Rothermich

In this workshop students, through various exercises and explanations, will be able to take their paintings to a new level. Students will learn the terminology of color, compare and contrast colors, match colors to a photograph, learn which paints on their palette are warm and cool, transparent or opaque, how to create colors starting with a gray base, produce paintings that display various temperatures, how to paint dark backgrounds, and much more. You will leave with a new understanding of color.
This workshop is for anyone wanting to expand their knowledge of color through the watercolor medium.

What’s Provided: Color swatches, binder pages, palette with 10 colors, 36 page booklet (These items are yours to keep)
What to Bring: Pencil and eraser, Board to paint on, masking tape, water container, one larger round brush, one flat brush at least a ½ inch, a palette with a large mixing area or a white plate, any and all watercolor paint that you currently own, scrap or inexpensive watercolor paper for color experimentation, 2 pieces of watercolor paper (140 lb. cold press)at least 8 x 10 size.
